May Meetings For Randolph and Macon County

May 12, 2011

Announcements

The Democratic Club of Randolph County will hold their monthly meeting on May 19th in Moberly at Nelly’s Restaurant and we are proud to announce, 8th District State Representative, Tom Shively, will be our speaker for the evening.  Representative Shively has served the 8th District since being elected to do so in 2006, and handily won re-election this past year, despite 2010 being a rough year for Democrats all around, which speaks very highly of Tom and the leadership he provides for the people of his district.  Tom served in the United States Air Force and taught agriculture for over three decades.   In the Missouri House, Tom currently sits on the Budget Committee, Appropriations – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Agriculture Policy, and Elementary and Secondary Education Committee.  When Tom isn’t working in the legislature, he is a proud farmer.  And when he is working in the legislature, he is providing the type of Democratic leadership the people of his district demand.

Please plan on joining us on Thursday the 19th in Moberly.  Social time at 6:00.  Dinner begins at 6:30.  Speaking begins at 7:00.  Buffet costs $10 and you can also enter to win our 50/50 pot as well.  You may RSVP to our meeting by emailing us at randolphcodemocrats@gmail.com.

On Thursday the 26th, The Macon County Democrats are proud to welcome Regional Director of the United States Department of Health and Human Services and former 9th District Congressional candidate, Judy Baker, to The Miner’s Hall for their monthly meeting.  Judy represented the 25th District in the Missouri House from 2005 to 2009.  Upon completion of her time in the Missouri House, Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, appointed Judy to her regional post and Judy has been hard at work ever since.  Judy was recently in Moberly hosting a town hall with the Missouri Farmers Union on the many benefits of the recently passed Affordable Care Act.  Health care is Judy’s life and she is working hard to educate the public on the Affordable Care Act.

Judy and the Macon County Democrats would like to welcome you join them on Thursday, May 26th at The Miners Hall in Macon.  Meal is catered by Special D’s and the cost is $11.  Meeting begins at 6 pm.  To RSVP to this event, please email maconcountydems@hotmail.com.
