June Meeting For Randolph County Brings State Representative Mary Still To Town

June 13, 2011

Announcements

The Democratic Club of Randolph County will hold their regular monthly meeting this Thursday at Nelly’s Restaurant in Moberly.  Featured speaker for the evening will be 25th District State Representative, Mary Still of Columbia.  Mary just completed her third term in the Missouri House and prior to her service as a state representative, she served as policy director in the attorney generals office of Jay Nixon and communications director for Governor Bob Holden.

Mary has made a name for herself over the past year, going toe to toe with the payday loan industry and bringing forth legislation that would cap the rate of interest charged on loans.  Missouri currently has the weakest regulations in the United States.  In Missouri, the average annual percentage rate paid on a payday loan sits at 445 percent.  Mary has proposed a 36 percent cap, with an emphasis on this as a way to fight predatory lending to military families.

To read more on Mary and her work, please visit her website or visit her House website.

Social time begins at 6 P.M., with dinner served at 6:30.  Meeting and speaking beings at 7.

You may RSVP to this event by calling Dorinda Dameron at 660-676-6454 or Neta Crutchfield at 660-277-4713.

Buffet dinner and drinks costs $10.  You may also enter for a chance to win our 50/50 pot.

Thank You,

Jeff Reed
