It’s A (Republican) Mans World?

News On The Net, Opinion

Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, Tweeted this photo today of the female contraception hearings taking place on Capitol Hill.  Pelosi and her female Democratic colleagues stormed out of the morning meeting after Republican Darrell Issa refused Democrats requests to allow a female to testify, instead of the all male panel the Republicans had put together.

“Imagine they’re having a panel on women’s health, and they don’t have any women on the panel — duh!  What is it that men don’t understand about women’s health and how central the issue of family planning is to that?”

Pelosi and the Democrats outrage was well warranted.  What gives a panel of Republican men the right to decide on the health and wellness of women?  Why weren’t women given a seat at the table to debate their point of view?  Why are Republican men trying so hard to silence the point of view of women?

Pelosi aired her frustrations on Twitter for all to see.  Rightfully so.

Whatever the reason Republicans had stuffed up their sleeves for silencing the voice of women on womens health and wellness issues, we are pretty sure they had James Brown on their iPods this morning.
