Mark Nichols – Randolph County Sheriff

As Sheriff, Mark pledges to always hold the safety and security of Randolph County’s citizens as the highest priority.
We work closely with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.  Sheriff Nichols has created an enviroment of honesty, integrity, and dependability.  His office sets a high standard for Missouri law enforcement.

Mark Nichols has served as Randolph County Sheriff since 2005.  He has over 26 years of experience in the law enforcement and corrections field and has graduated the University of Missouri-Columbia Law Enforcement Training Institute and Missouri State Highway Patrol Supervision School.  He was recognized as Sheriff of the Year in 2007 by the Missouri Deputy Sheriff’s Association.

Having the best staff possible:

Mark has continually updated his personal training, attending more than 2100 hours of continuing education.  The Sheriff enables and encourages his deputies to continually update their training.  Mark’s office has secured grants to provide higher salaries his deputies, helping him keep the best personnel available.  Mark works to make sure his staff has the equipment needed to communicate well with each other and operate efficiently.  In the last seven years, his office has purchased narrow band radios and installed video equipment in all patrol cars.

Protecting county resources:

The Sheriff’s Office’s expenses make up a large portion of the county budget.  Working with the County Commission, Sheriff Nichols has helped the county turn around it financial position so that the county is now operating with a positive fund balance.  Sheriff Nichols has also overseen the opening of the new Randolph County Justice Center, which has allowed the county to earn over $370,000 in revenue for housing inmates from nearby counties.

Showing leadership in our community:

Sheriff Nichols take an active roll in our community, both in his role as Sheriff and on a personal level.  His involvement includes:

  • Member of the Randolph County Caring Communities Partnership Board of Directors

  • Graduate of Randolph County Excel
  • Member of the Randolph County Child Fatality Review Board
  • Member of the Central and Northeast Missouri Major Case Squads
  • Northeast Zone Leader of the Missouri Sheriff’s Association
  • Active member of multiple service organizations

Sheriff Nichols in the father of two daughters, Logan and Alaina.  Mark and his daughters are members of St. Pius X Catholic Church
